SAN FRANCISCO ADDITION & REMODEL
A San Francisco professional couple with a small child and another one on the way decided rather than moving from their neighborhood to add to the cramped quarters of their two story row house. To ensure the historical significant street elevation was unaltered, the addition was added to the rear of the house. With the exception of three rooms, the entire house was remodeled with significant additions. The top floor contains a new master bedroom and bathrooms. The middle floor addition comprise of a new kitchen, breakfast room, powder room and new stairs to the lower level where a home office, laundry room and an in-law suite was added. One of the highlights of the project, the new kitchen, has large French doors, that let in ample natural light, leading to the new decks that surround the area on two sides. The exterior shape of the addition and its asymmetrical roof allows for maximum southern exposure for a large array of photovoltaic panels, which are important to the very environmentally conscious owners.
