New residence at
The Sea Ranch done in association with Donlyn Lyndon, FAIA. The
site is windy, with strong winds from the northwest. The main
block of the house is therefore oriented to create a wind-sheltered
courtyard behind it. The building is divided into a few separate
elements, like farm buildings, to reinforce the character of the
site. The construction is heavy timber with Structural Insulated
Panels used for all exterior walls and the roof. This construction
type provides maximum insulated value and weather protection while
using sustainable materials. |
