WAKEFIELD BUILDING CONVERSION
Oakland, California

The Wakefield Building is a 62,000 square foot historic high-rise building in Downtown Oakland was built in 1922 as medical office space. We have been hired to provide seismic improvements, restore existing envelope, and transform the interior spaces into 38 live/work loft units and 4 commercial retail spaces at the street level. The design exposed the existing concrete structure and incorporated an open plan for each unit. This project was changed after the design development to return into its original use as an office building.
