SEA GATE ROAD RESIDENCE
This small new house less than 1000 square feet, designed with Donlyn Lyndon, FAIA, is for a client with a large collection of books. To accommodate this collection almost every wall in the house is a bookshelf. Some of these shelves are accessed from the stair leading to the loft office. The office is inside a small tower positioned to provide varied views to the south and west. The house is positioned slightly lower on the site and twisted to relate more closely to the alignment and position of the neighboring structure to the north and set into the ground to remain low in profile. The house is a conventional stud construction with composition roofing over a wood deck and concrete floors. The exterior walls will be dark cement siding with wood battens, left natural to provide for the variation that comes with weathering.
