HEALDSBURG RESIDENCE
The owners purchased a small hillside vineyard property outside of Healdsburg, California. For economy’s sake, and in order to preserve land for the vineyard they planned to install, the owners decided to improve the existing 1200 square foot house without expanding its footprint. Most improvements were in the form of subtractions. Walls separating kitchen, dining and living spaces were removed, creating a single ‘Great Room’. The low ceiling were replaced with simple prefabricated open trusses to create a lighter more open space. This project was awarded a 1999 Sunset Magazine/AIA Western Home Award.
